SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a composition and a method for controlling heavy hydrocarbons in the environment of wells and associated equipment used for operation of oil and gas wells. Composition for use in heavy hydrocarbon control, containing A. - ether, having given general formula, presented in composition in amount of 40-90 wt. %, and B. is at least one additional component selected from a group consisting of (i) an ester of the given formula, (ii) an alkoxylated alcohol having the general formula given, and (iii) mixtures (i) and (ii), (iv) hydrocarbon co-solvent and (v) mixtures (i), (ii) and (iv). Method of controlling heavy hydrocarbons in oil and gas wells and related equipment, involving: I - providing said composition, II - selecting at least one of compositions AE and III - depending on said selected composition performing an operation containing one action of: (i) dissolving paraffins, (ii) dissolving heavy oils, (iii) dispersing paraffins and asphaltenes.
