SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a fibrous material of a substrate and can be used in making cover materials for surfaces of furniture and furniture films, for finishing walls, flooring and ceilings of living rooms. Fibrous substrate material for making porous coating paper base or prepreg includes a flat impregnated structure of cellulose fibres, which contains pigment material and optionally additional additives usual for paper. Cellulose fibres contain 1–20 wt. % nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC). NFC has specific surface area (SSA) of at least 125 m2/g.

EFFECT: high opacity with low consumption of pigments and good mechanical stability of the material.
