FIELD: weapons and ammunition.
SUBSTANCE: method of controlling rate of fire of aircraft automatic guns with electric firing mechanism, in which by means of a radar sighting system or an optical location station, depending on the conditions of combat use, target detection and recognition is carried out, target parameters (range and angular coordinates of the target, speed of approach to the target) are determined. Information on target parameters is transmitted to onboard digital computer, in which information is processed and predicted firing distance is calculated. After that, the processed firing range signal is transmitted to the windshield indicator in the pilot's cabin. Value of range to target is assigned code, which is transmitted to decoder. In the decoder, the code is converted into electric pulses with a repetition frequency corresponding to the firing rate for the calculated range. By pressing the combat button, voltage is supplied to the gun electric guns, an electric primer-igniter of the projectile is triggered and a shot is fired. After the parts and mechanisms of the cannon are returned to the initial firing position of the next shot does not occur until the next pulse arrives.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of combat use of aircraft cannon.
