FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to vacuum-tube, electronic and electric-lamp industry and can be used in testing equipment designed for operation in outer space. A simulator of solar radiation of the optical range is made in the form of a metal halide high-pressure lamp containing a quartz bulb, the filling of which in addition to mercury and inert gas includes the following radiating components in the form of halogenides (wt%): 20–45 % of iron, 10–15 % of titanium, 15–20 % of cesium, 10–15 % of thallium, 20–30 % of germanium.
EFFECT: creation of a source of radiation of optical range with maximum approximation of its spectrum to spectral composition of sunlight.
