FIELD: ecology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to cleaning of environment. Disclosed is a biodegradable sorbent material for collecting oil and oil products, which is a nonwoven polymer fibrous web made of one or more layers of biopolymer fibers: polyhydroxybutyrate, polylactide or mixtures thereof, obtained by electrostatic molding on a substrate. Diameter of monofibres is 0.5–5 mcm, thickness of one layer of fibers is from 10 to 300 mcm and bulk density of web is 0.12–0.22 g/cm3. Method of producing the material is also disclosed. Proposed material has high efficiency – oil absorption within 14–48 g/g. Material undergoes complete biodecomposition for 2–6 months.

EFFECT: disclosed is a biodegradable sorbent material for collecting oil and oil products and a method for production thereof.
