FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing methyl methacrylate via direct oxidative esterification of methacrolein. Methyl methacrylate is used in large quantities to obtain polymers and copolymers with other polymerisable compounds. Besides, methyl methacrylate is an important link in synthesis of a number of special methacrylic acid (MAA) ethers, which can be obtained by re-esterification with the corresponding alcohol. Therefore, there is a great interest in very simple, cheap and environmentally friendly methods of producing said starting material. In particular, the invention relates to optimized treatment of the effluent from the reactor as a result of oxidative esterification of methacrolein, through which streams of industrial wastes can be minimized, and process water can be recycled in an optimum manner. Methacrylic acid formed during such method is also optimally extracted and separated or converted to commercial alkyl methacrylate.
EFFECT: advantage of this method is that to the configuration of the installation device there are fewer requirements than described in the prior art.
