SUBSTANCE: use to measure the size of focal spot X-ray tube. Essence of the invention consists in the fact that X-ray radiating of the test object is carried out, the X-ray radiation received by the detector by the detector through the test object and conversion thereof into the digital X-ray image of the test object, wherein the illumination is carried out repeatedly, the first X-ray is carried out in the contact position on the detector of the test object, which is a set of groups of alternating X-ray non-transparent and X-ray transparent bands with a certain number of bands of the same width per unit length of the test object in each group, wherein the width of the bands from the group to the group changes monotonically, and the obtained contact image is used to determine the resolution of the detector Rn, which will correspond to the pair of the thinnest lines, which are different on the image, and subsequent illumination is performed at gradual removal of test object from detector and its approach to X-ray tube to the moment when on X-ray image will be maximum number of lines, further measuring distances from X-ray tube to test object f1 and from test object to detector f2, calculating optimum image magnification ratio mo as ratio of sum of distances from X-ray tube to test object and from test object to detector to distance from X-ray tube to test object and then focal spot size d is determined by certain mathematical expression.
