FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to use of polymers of styrene and dialkyl esters of maleic acid as pour point depressants of paraffin-containing liquid and/or to improve properties of low-temperature fluidity of paraffin-containing liquid, as well as to a method for lowering the pour point and/or improving low-temperature fluidity of the paraffin-containing liquid. Polymers of styrene and dialkyl esters of maleic acid have the following formula, in which R1, R2 independently of each other are alkyl groups containing C12 to C36 of carbon atoms; alkyl groups are branched and linear; ratio of content of linear alkyl groups to content of branched alkyl groups ranges from 95:5 to 5:95. At least 90 % of the number of structural elements are elements a) and elements b), in terms of total number of all structural elements included in polymer. Structural elements a) and b) with respect to each other are contained in polymer in ratio ranging from 80:20 to 20:80. Method of lowering the pour point and/or improving the low-temperature fluidity of the paraffin-containing liquid involves adding said polymer to a paraffin-containing liquid.

EFFECT: invention enables to obtain a depressant which effectively lowers the pour point and improves low-temperature viscous properties of paraffin-containing liquids.
