FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical industry, specifically to production of heterogeneous catalysts for liquid phase synthesis of methanol, and can be used in chemical industry to obtain methanol, which is used as a solvent, extractant and raw material for synthesis of formaldehyde, esters of organic and inorganic acids and additives to fuel. Chromium-containing catalyst for liquid phase synthesis of methanol contains super-cross-linked polystyrene as a carrier and active metal. According to the invention, the active metal used is chromium, wherein the content of chromium in the catalyst ranges from 4 to 6 wt%, and the content of the super-cross-linked polystyrene ranges from 94 to 96 wt%. Super-cross-linked polystyrene with inner surface area of 950–1,050 m2/g is used. Method of producing a chromium-containing catalyst for liquid phase synthesis of methanol involves treatment of super-cross-linked polystyrene with a solution of an active metal salt in tetrahydrofuran, distilled water and methanol, prepared under nitrogen flow, drying, blowing with nitrogen at rate of 30±5 ml/min for 30±5 min, blowing with hydrogen at rate of 30±5 ml/min for 30±5 min, reducing with hydrogen, cooling to room temperature and blowing with nitrogen at rate of 30±5 ml/min for 30±5 min. According to the invention, the solution of the active metal salt used is a solution of chromium acetate with concentration of 3.6–3.7 wt%, treatment of the support with a solution of chromium acetate is carried out by mixing for 10±0.5 min, then – using ultrasound with frequency of 60±0.5 kHz, power 75±1 W for 2±0.1 min, drying is carried out at 105±5 °C for 1±0.1 hours, and reduction with hydrogen is carried out at 350±10 °C at rate of 10±1 ml/min for 3±0.1 hours.

EFFECT: high activity, selectivity and operational stability of the heterogeneous catalyst in the liquid-phase synthesis of methanol.
