FIELD: ice-technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ice science and ice-technical equipment and can be used in preventive works to ensure earlier passage of vessels to places of cargo operations, in particular, on shelf of freezing seas. Method of softening of ice cover consists in eruption of slits in ice, which are filled with colored water. Water freezes forms vertical interlayers.
EFFECT: in spring, due to solar radiation penetrating into ice, the colored ice in the slots is heated up to melting, thus facilitating mechanical destruction of the ice field at vertical impact.
