SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a conversion codec. For this purpose the following is provided: comparison of input target vector s with plurality of centroids, wherein each centroid is a corresponding class of code vectors in the codebook. Also, a search starting point which relates to an input target vector in the codebook is determined based on the comparison result. Code vectors in the codebook are sorted according to a distortion measure reflecting the distance between each code vector and class centroids, wherein the code vectors in the codebook are sorted according to a distortion measure reflecting the distance between each code vector and two of said plurality of centroids. Number of input target per unit or time interval is variable, and search space is dynamically tuned to number of input target vectors. Conversion codec and the method enable to search for a first class of code vectors containing the most probable code candidate vectors with respect to the input vector s.
EFFECT: technical result is the possibility of simultaneously producing a large number of input vectors.
