FIELD: fuel storage and distribution.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to storage and distribution of fuel, and in particular to a system and method of storing liquid and gaseous fuel in an elevated and modular structure. Fuel storage system includes support structure supporting at least one fuel tank at predetermined distance above ground. Fuel tank includes an internal tank configured to receive gaseous fuel, an intermediate tank surrounding the inner tank and forming a first annular space therebetween, and an outer tank enclosing the intermediate tank and forming a second annular space therebetween. First annular space is filled with impact absorbing resin to absorb structural stresses, and the second annular space is filled with insulating material providing fire resistance and bullet resistance.
EFFECT: intermediate tank is connected to support structure and at least one adjacent fuel tank and prevents transfer of load to inner tank.
