FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a sheet separating device and to a method for single-piece separation of sheets from sheet material. Sheet separating device comprises loading hopper for receiving stack of paper-separated sheets, having output slot made and arranged to transfer sheet from loading hopper into transporting mechanism, separating roller with separating roller and position monitoring device with alignment indicator correlating with angular position of contact section of separating roller and indicating alignment of contact section with outlet slot and/or sheet. Position monitoring device is located on the separating roller. Method for single-sheet separation of sheets from sheet material stack in said device is that position of alignment indicator relating to position monitoring device is received, position of the alignment indicator is evaluated as to whether the contact section is in contact with the sheet, and if the evaluation shows that the contact section does not contact the sheet and/or does not transport it, then the separating roller is turned in the direction opposite to the transportation direction of rotation, until the initial position defined by the separating roller is defined as the angular position. At that, in the given angular position after the beginning of the separating roller rotation in the transportation direction of rotation, the specified minimum angular velocity of the separating roller is provided at the input of its contact section in contact with the sheet. Then separating roller is driven into rotation in transportation direction of rotation to start separation of sheet from stack located in loading hopper.

EFFECT: device and method provide failure-free transfer and transfer of sheets from separating roller to transporting mechanism.
