FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of producing leucoxene concentrate intended for use as titanium-containing material in metallurgical, chemical and other industries. Flotation concentrate is roasted in a rotary furnace, cooled, milled and enriched by separation of titanium oxide grains from silicates by physical-chemical and/or mechanical methods. Prior to annealing, float concentrate of oil-and-titanium ore is tested for presence of titanium dioxide mass fraction in it of not less than 45 %, after which it is ground to fraction of 0.3 mm using transport water and 10 % solution of soda to maintain preset pH value 8.5–9. Pulp of the float concentrate is fed successively for complete main and control flotation, then, cleaned flotation is performed, at least 4-time flotation with repeated dressing. Pulp temperature is from 30 to 37 °C. Pulp collector used is a mixture of thallous fatty acid and kerosene in ratio of 1:1 or a mixture of diesel fuel and thallous oil in ratio of 1:1 or 5 % fatty acid solution of thallous. Composition of transport water for pulp preparation in thickeners: up to 0.2 wt% of solid concentrate, up to 0.6 wt% of oil-containing liquid and water – balance. Concentrate accumulated in the thickeners in the form of pulp is supplied for drying and tempering at temperature of 600–700 °C with further coking of heavy oil components at temperature of 460–480 °C. Pulp is used to produce a leucoxene concentrate with particle size of 0.1–0.3 mm with content of at least 45 % of the weight fraction of titanium dioxide and not more than 0.5 % of the weight fraction of moisture.
EFFECT: method increases content of titanium dioxide in the enriched product while reducing the process time.
