FIELD: oil and gas industry.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method of determining the relationship between the ratio of dissolving power to critical solvent power and the threshold content of light paraffins of the hydrocarbon fluid medium, wherein said method comprises: dividing a plurality of hydrocarbon fluids into subgroups based on the ratio of dissolving power to critical dissolving power; determination of threshold content of light paraffins for each of subgroups, wherein said threshold content of light paraffins is content of light paraffins of hydrocarbon fluids at point, wherein the tendency to contamination of hydrocarbon fluids exceeds the contamination threshold; and determining the relationship between the ratio of dissolving power to critical dissolving power and the threshold content of light paraffins. In addition, a method is provided for determining whether a hydrocarbon fluid medium will exhibit an acceptable level of contamination, where the relationship described above is used, as well as a method of reducing deposition of asphaltene from hydrocarbon fluid medium at an oil refinery, in which method described above is used.
EFFECT: technical result is the development of an improved method of predicting the ratio of dissolving power to critical dissolving power, in which deposition of asphaltenes occurs, so as to avoid unexpected contamination at the oil refinery.
