FIELD: transportation; machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to differentials with automatic locking of vehicle wheels. Differential comprises drive housing, installed inside housing on axles coaxially to each other, semi-axial elements with holes on facing each other end surfaces, as well as closed chains of balls for relationship of drive housing with semi-axial elements. Between the semi-axial elements coaxially with them there is a central unit connected to the drive housing and equipped with closed channels opened from opposite adjacent to end face surfaces of the semi-axial elements for placement of closed chains of balls. Diameter of channels corresponds to diameter of balls. Channels in the central block can be made along one circle, at that the holes on the end surfaces are located along the same circle. Channels in the central block can be made on several circles, at that the holes on the end surfaces are located along the same circles. Transverse size of channels opening on end surfaces of central block is less or equal to diameter of ball. Central unit can be made of two or more disks adjoining each other and interconnected.
EFFECT: higher reliability and longevity of differential operation, as well as manufacturability.
