FIELD: communication.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a network authentication system. System comprises user device (UE), service network (SN) and own network (HN). HN is configured to generate an expected user response (XRES) based on the UE identifier and generate an indicator; and send part of XRES and indicator to SN. SN is configured to receive a portion of the XRES and an indicator and receive a user response (RES) from the UE. SN is configured to compare the RES with the XRES based on the indicator. SN is configured to send an acknowledgment message to the HN upon successful comparison.
EFFECT: technical result is providing information security against EPS AKA* attacks.
