SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the computer equipment. Method of operating terminal in a cellular communication network comprises steps of receiving, from a second node in a cellular communication network, a message in which there is an integrity algorithm to be used, receiving an integrity key by performing AKA UMTS on USIM and activating integrity protection for user plane data transferred between the terminal device and the first network node in the cellular communication network, at the radio link (RLC) or media access control (MAC) control layer in response to the activation message from the GPRS mobility management (GMM) layer, wherein activation message from GMM level to RLC or MAC level sets said integrity key and integrity algorithm to be used.
EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of safety of terminal in cellular communication network.
