FIELD: measurement technology.
SUBSTANCE: method is characterized by the fact that on control sections of the analyzed water object using an underwater video camera visually count the number of once marked fish. Expert estimation of fish abundance in the analyzed water body is determined based on a certain mathematical relationship, taking into account the number of once marked fish, water transparency, viewing angle of the camera and area of the analyzed water object.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to estimate number of fish of all ages and species in any water reservoirs and streams, without application of catching tools.
