FIELD: rocket equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to rocket engineering and can be used in making a nozzle with variable degree of expansion in multi-mode solid-propellant rocket engine (SPRE). Dual-mode nozzle unit of solid-propellant rocket engine comprises flared end and stationary insert, at that, in subcritical part of nozzle there is a petal movable insert, lugs of which are retained by retainer and mounting ring, after rated burn-out of which, petals of movable insert under action of gases pressure are shifted in longitudinal direction until they close and diameter of critical section Dc is reduced.
EFFECT: invention provides simplified design, reduced weight of SPRE and increased weight of its charge at maintaining required dimensions, increased thrust due to failure of central body and reduced aerodynamic resistance to gas flow.
