SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the use of a bile acid sequestrant to reduce or prevent the side effects associated with the treatment of liver cancer, including inhibition of FGFR4 by administering N-(5-cyano-4-((2-methoxyethyl)amino)pyridin-2-yl)-7-formyl-6-((4-methyl-2-oxopiperazin-1-yl)methyl)-3,4-dihydro-1,8-naphthyridin-1(2H)-carboxamide (compound A) or a salt thereof, wherein side effects include increasing the level of hepatic enzymes in serum, plasma or blood, or increasing the level of microRNA122; to a pharmaceutical combination for treating liver cancer, containing compound A or its salt and bile acid sequestrant; to use of bile acid sequestrant to reduce or prevent side effects, associated with treating liver cancer with compound A in form of a citric acid salt, wherein the side effect does not include diarrhea; to said use, where the side effects include increasing the level of hepatic enzymes in serum, plasma or blood; and a method of treating liver cancer involving simultaneous or sequential administration of cholestyramine and compound A in the form of a citric acid salt.
