SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to automatic milking plants. Device for automatic milking system comprises three-dimensional chamber and processing unit. Three-dimensional camera is configured to record image data representing the outer surface of the dairy animal teat in three dimensions. Processing unit is configured to receive recorded image data and based on them provides geometric analysis of the teat. Processing unit is configured to calculate at least one dummy size indicator based on image data and geometrical analysis, including determination of nipple size associated with size based on at least one size index. Device further comprises a user interface configured to output data, reflecting associated with nipple size classification. Carrier readable by the processor has a program recorded thereon, causing at least one processing unit to perform the method, implemented in device for automatic milking system.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of milking, reduced risk of mastitis.
