FIELD: navigation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to navigation, in particular, to methods for transportation of icebergs. Disclosed is a method of transporting an iceberg, in which two transport tugboats (TT), equipped with standard towing equipment, are placed in the position of "fodder to stern" opposite to the direction of iceberg drift at a distance, sufficient for safe connection of TT to each other, said TT are connected to each other by means of steel tow ropes through connecting bracket, to the above bracket in one line on height on one halyard upper and lower indicator buoys are attached, which determine the depth of immersion of connecting bracket, after completion of connection of tow ropes TT begin divergence from each other, each TT moves to cover the iceberg until the depth of the center of iceberg center depth is achieved by the connection bracket, wherein the TT for the joint actions coordination holds the load by the propeller blades turning angle, when safe distance between iceberg and TT is reached, steel towing cables are etched until visual indication of upper buoy indicator at middle of wide part of iceberg on water surface, then TT fall on course of iceberg towing, etching towing cables, smoothly increasing load by means of propeller turn angle of adjustable propeller to maximum and iceberg is towed by one course parallel to each other at safe distance from each other, wherein parameters of iceberg motion are monitored.
EFFECT: higher reliability of transportation process of large ice objects due to adjustment of cable immersion, availability of balanced thrust TT and, as a result, reduction of overturning moment.
