METHOD FOR TREATMENT OR PREVENTION OF STROKE Russian patent published in 2021 - IPC A61K39/395 A61P9/10

Abstract RU 2744909 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to the field of medicine, namely, to a method of reducing the consequences of a stroke in a subject, comprising administering to the subject a compound that inhibits VEGF-B signaling, where the consequences of a stroke include one or more of the size of the infarction, the hemorrhage degree, hemorrhage incidence, fatal hemorrhage likelihood, cerebral edema and/or the degree of impairment or permeability of the blood-brain barrier, and where the compound that inhibits VEGF-B signaling represents: (i) a protein containing an antibody variable region that binds or specifically binds to VEGF-B and neutralizes VEGF-B signaling and includes (a) VH, containing: a. CDR1, containing the sequence represented by amino acids 25-34 SEQ ID NO: 3, b. CDR2, containing the sequence represented by amino acids 49-65 SEQ ID NO: 3, and c. CDR3, containing the sequence represented by amino acids 98-108, SEQ ID NO: 3, and (b) VL, containing: a. CDR1, containing the sequence represented by amino acids 23-33 SEQ ID NO: 4, b. CDR2, containing the sequence represented by amino acids 49-55 SEQ ID NO: 4, and c. CDR3, containing the sequence represented by amino acids 88-96 SEQ ID NO: 4; or (ii) nucleic acid selected from the group of antisense sequence, siRNA, RNAi, ribozyme and DNAzyme that inhibits or prevents expression of VEGF-B.

EFFECT: present invention provides a reduction in the effects of stroke in the subject, with the introduction of a compound that inhibits transmission of VEGF-B signals.
