SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a control panel and an electrical appliance having such a control panel. The control panel (7) has a wall (8) defining a cavity (12) and having a surface (13) facing the inside of the cavity (12) and a front surface (14) open outward, having on/off switching controls (24, 29) located on it to turn on/off the power of the above-mentioned electrical appliance, as well as controls (25, 26, 27 and 28) for activating the operating functions of the said electrical appliance (1) after turning on the power. The control panel (7) is characterized in that the power on/off controls (24, 29) and the controls (25, 26, 27 and 28) for activating the operating functions are made in the form of corresponding illuminated icons symbolically depicting the functions performed, while the mentioned functions can be activated by the user touching the corresponding icons, said illuminated icons become visible after turning on the power of the machine by actuating the control (24, 29) and become invisible after turning off the power, the said illuminated icons (24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29), once formed, are visible from the outside through the said wall (8) of the control panel (7), while the said wall (8) thickness in the said illuminated icons (24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29) is less than the total thickness of the said wall (8).
