SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of shipbuilding, in particular to gas carriers. In accordance with one aspect of the invention, a floating vessel, in particular a gas carrier for liquefied natural gas, is proposed. The vessel contains a gas turbine generator set (10) designed to generate the first electric power (21) and supply the specified power to the electric distribution system (50), a steam turbine generator set (30), designed to generate the second electrical power (41) and supply the specified power to the electrical distribution system (50), and the power plant (60) designed to drive a floating vessel (100) by means of traction power (61) supplied by an electric distribution system (50), while the gas turbine generator set (10) is designed to generate the first electric power from 10 MW to 18 MW, preferably from 14 MW to 15 MW at 25 °С. In accordance with another aspect, a method of operating the vessel is proposed.

EFFECT: technical result is to increase the operational efficiency of the gas carrier.
