FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to contact welding and can be used for process of inter-element connection of lead-acid storage battery. Method includes contact welding of battery cells, continuous during welding measurement of voltage drop on welding electrodes, when reaching a predetermined threshold value welding current is switched off, wherein duration of current flow is determined, which is compared with boundary values of reference time interval, and in case of deviation from these values unsatisfactory quality of connection is established and its rejection is performed. Threshold voltage is set in the form of a linearly decreasing in time value, the parameters of which are determined preliminary by welding an inter-element connection with a given quality in the corresponding modes. Invention also relates to a device which realizes said method.

EFFECT: use of the invention improves the quality of welding of battery cells.
