SUBSTANCE: invention generally relates to measuring and positioning systems. The system of relative position information definition contains multiple positioning devices for defining the relative position data in three-dimensional space. Each positioning device has a line of sight, and the relative position data, contains data about the relative position relative to the positioning device for each other positioning device within its line of sight. The system also contains multiple imaging devices for obtaining image data of an object within the specified three-dimensional space and a computing device designed to correlate data about the relative position obtained by the specified multiple imaging devices. A method for defining relative position information, according to which the relative position data and image data are correlated by a computing device, and based on the correlation of the relative position data and image data, the relative position information corresponding to the specified object within the specified three-dimensional space is defined by the computing device.
