SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to methods and compositions for hydraulic fracturing of underground formations. The fracturing system contains a base carrier fluid; a thickener added to the base carrier fluid; and a proppant suspended in the base carrier fluid containing the thickener. The thickener includes a copolymer polymerized using two different monomers, the first of the two different monomers being an acrylic acid monomer and the second of the two different monomers selected from the group consisting of: a) a carboxylic acid monomer, b) a C1-C5 alkyl complex an ester and / or a C1-C5 hydroxyalkyl ester of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid, c) a crosslinking monomer. The base fluid has a viscosity of 20 cP to 150 cP and a proppant transfer capacity of 0.1 lb / gallon to 20 lb / gallon. The hydraulic fracturing method includes the steps of suspending the proppant in the above fracturing fluid containing the above thickener, pumping the fracturing fluid containing the thickener and the suspended proppant into the formation during the fracturing operation.

EFFECT: ability to carry proppant by the hydraulic fracturing system, optimize fracture formation, prevent unwanted fracture height growth.
