SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an apparatus for producing a respirable medium, comprising a container for accommodating a liquid; a heater for volatilising the liquid contained in the vessel; a chamber containing a tobacco composition; and an outlet hole, configured for the respirable medium to exit through the outlet hole during use, wherein the medium comprises one or several components of the tobacco composition and a volatile liquid in form of at least one of vapour and aerosol. The tobacco composition therein comprises 50 to 85 wt.% air- or smoke-cured tobacco; 0 to 50 wt.% flue- and/or sun-cured tobacco not subjected to any further processing, including the Maillard reaction; and 0 to 50 wt.% flue- and/or sun-cured subjected to further processing for enhancing the flavour of the tobacco, wherein the processing of the flue- and/or sun-cured tobacco for enhancing the flavour of the tobacco includes the Maillard reaction.
EFFECT: provided is respirable medium with a taste or tastes produced from a tobacco composition without combustion of the precursor.
