FIELD: thermometry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of thermometry, namely to the design of protective tips of thermocouples for measuring high temperatures in liquid, solid and gaseous media (for example, in liquid metals, salt solutions, slags, flows of combustion products of rocket engine fuels, etc.). The protective tip of the thermocouple has an outer cover made of a refractory material made of multilayer in the form of thin-walled adjacent barrels inserted into each other without a gap, made with longitudinal through slits in the side walls and rotated around the longitudinal axis so that the slits of adjacent barrels do not coincide.
EFFECT: multilayer design of the protective tip cover allows reducing the effective compression stresses during heat shock, ensuring the integrity of the cover material and increasing the service life of the thermocouple, saving expensive and scarce refractory materials.
