SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer technology. The method for protecting computer networks is designed to simulate a communication channel with poor quality, which provides a significant increase in the time for conducting attacks with password guessing, by sending an FTP client that did not pass successful authorization, a fragmented response with a false transient error message, fragments of which are sent through small time delays, after many intermediate responses, and also with the absence of blocking the connection with the FTP client that did not pass the successful authorization, and sending it at short time intervals, which exclude the possibility of an attacker using small timeout values for waiting for a response from the FTP server, intermediate responses before sending a response from the FTP server.
EFFECT: increasing effectiveness of protection by reducing the ability of an attacker to brute-force the names and passwords of authorized FTP clients, as well as opening security facilities for computer networks and bypassing them.
