FIELD: cable and wire production.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to peroxide-crosslinked polyethylene, corresponding compositions and cable and wire products obtained from them. A method for obtaining the composition of linear low-density polyethylene modified with peroxide is proposed, including stages of: (A) obtaining the first linear low-density polyethylene obtained in the presence of Ziegler-Natt catalyst in the first reactor; (B) transferring the first linear low-density polyethylene obtained in the presence of Ziegler-Natt catalyst from the first reactor to the second reactor; (C) adding the first amount of organic peroxide (1000 ppm) to the second reactor; (D) reacting organic peroxide with the composition of linear low-density polyethylene obtained from or containing the first linear low-density polyethylene obtained in the presence of Ziegler-Natt catalyst, connecting components of linear low-density polyethylene and forming linear low-density polyethylene modified with peroxide; and (E) selecting linear low-density polyethylene modified with peroxide, where the first linear low-density polyethylene obtained in the presence of Ziegler-Natt catalyst has: a melt flow index (ASTM D 1238) from about 5.5 g/10 min to about 7.5 g/10 min; density (ASTM D 1505) from about 0.88 g/cm3 to about 0.925 g/cm3; tensile strength (ASTM D 638) from about 1400 lb.sq.inch to about 2,000 lb.sq.inch; and elongation at break (ASTM D 638) ranging from about 750% to about 1000%. A method for preparing a silane-based composition for cable and wire products and a composition of linear low-density polyethylene modified with peroxide for cable and wire products are also proposed.

EFFECT: improved extrusion capability, increased melt strength, impact strength, resistance to tension cracking and heat of deformation.
