FIELD: pulse technology.
SUBSTANCE: method relates to the technology for detecting pulse signals the duration whereof is variable in a wide range and the carrier frequency, type and parameters of intra-pulse modulation are unknown. The method consists in amplitude detection of a mixture of the signal with noise, supply of an output signal of the amplitude detector to a set of independent parallel post-detector low-pass filters (LPF) with a consistently narrowing bandwidth, independent processing of the output signal of each LPF by a pulse signal detector using a comparison of the current value of the signal envelope with an adaptive or fixed detection threshold proportional to the noise power estimate. Low-frequency filtering of the output signal of the detector is used in the method in several independent parallel channels with post-detector low-frequency filters LPF with a consistently narrowing (e.g., by a given whole number of times) bandwidth. The detection threshold is decreased when the LPF bandwidth is narrowed, providing an increase in the probability of detecting a signal while maintaining the preset probability of a false alarm by reducing the dispersion of the detected noise leading to a reduction in the probability of exceeding the threshold by a noise spike.
EFFECT: creation of a method for detecting pulse signals with unknown parameters, insensitive to changes in the carrier frequency and the duration of the detected signals.
