FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method for producing ethylene oxide, including: (i) providing liquid flow of incoming material containing ethylene, hydrogen peroxide and a solvent; (ii) passing liquid flow of incoming material provided at stage (i) into an epoxidation zone containing a catalyst containing titanium-based zeolite containing zinc and having a MWW frame structure type, and affecting liquid flow of incoming material with conditions of an epoxidation reaction in the epoxidation zone, to obtain a reaction mixture containing ethylene oxide, water and a solvent; (iii) removing effluent flow from the epoxidation zone, wherein effluent flow contains ethylene oxide, water and a solvent. In addition, the invention relates to the use of a catalytic system for the epoxidation of ethylene.
EFFECT: proposed group of inventions provides high conversion of hydrogen peroxide and selectivity for ethylene oxide over long reaction periods.
