FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: method for obtaining potassium sulfate (hereinafter – PS), suitable as a mineral fertilizer, is characterized by: dissolving carnallite containing 5% NaCl in water to obtain sylvinite and a salt solution containing magnesium chloride; adding sodium sulfate to carnallite to obtain a mixture of kainite or leonite, a precipitate of KCl and NaCl and a salt solution containing MgCl2, KCl, NaCl; separating NaCl from the mixture; obtaining a precipitated mixture of kainite or leonite with KCl; filtering the specified mixture of kainite or leonite with KCl and washing with water to obtain a pure mixture of kainite or leonite with KCl; additional adding KCl to a mixture of kainite or leonite with KCl, followed by decomposing the specified mixture of kainite or leonite with KCl to PS.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to obtain a harmless fertilizer – potassium sulfate.
