FIELD: material engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of mechanical testing of materials, in particular to shear tests of samples made of polymer materials capable of experiencing large deformations. Cyclic stretching-compression is carried out at a constant set speed with an increasing amplitude of elongation, first along one axis, then along the other axis, then alternating cyclic elongation in two directions is carried out at the next levels of elongation, and with each change in the direction of deformation, the sample is subjected to time exposure.
EFFECT: obtaining more information about the properties of the material, in particular, when implementing its viscoelastic properties at different levels of elongation and when removing the load.
