FIELD: wireless network.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a means for identifying a critical communication link in a path between a source node and a destination node in a wireless mesh network. A forwarding path request message, PREQ, related to the discovery of a path between said source node and said destination node is received. It is determined that an additional PREQ message related to the discovery of said path has not been received for a predetermined duration, and triggered by said determination. The first critical flag is set in an entry in the discovery table associated with said path between said source node and said destination node. Said received PREQ message is forwarded to one or more other nodes in said wireless mesh network.
EFFECT: increasing the end-to-end reliability of the mesh network, in particular the transfer mechanism in the Bluetooth mesh network.
