FRAME FOR A SUPERCONDUCTING SOLENOID Russian patent published in 2021 - IPC H01F6/06

Abstract RU 2758712 C1

FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering and is intended for manufacture of high-current superconducting magnets. The frame consists of coaxial pipes in the amount greater than the amount of layers of the solenoid winding by one. The pipes are made of composites made of reinforcing fibres and a binder resistant to cryogenic temperatures. The reinforcing fibres are oriented primarily along the circumference, part of them parallel to the axis of the solenoid, in the direction of action the main forces in the winding. A circular cable made of low-temperature or high-temperature superconducting wires or tapes with a cooling channel inside is applied in the solenoid. Spiral grooves with a semicircular cross-section are made in all pipes. The inner pipe has only an outer groove, the outer pipe has only an inner groove. Both outer and inner spiral grooves are made on the remaining pipes. The outer groove of the pipe inner to the cable layer and the inner groove of the pipe outer to the cable layer form a channel for the cable. The cable is wound into the groove of the lower pipe and adhered by a cold-hardening compound modified for cryogenic applications. The outer pipes are screwed onto the inner layers of the winding with the same cold-hardening compound.

EFFECT: increase in the efficiency of cooling and the strength of the frame of a large pulse superconducting solenoid.
