FIELD: heat insulation.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to granular heat-insulating material that can be used for heat insulation of buildings, industrial enterprises, pipelines, containing hydrophobized silicon dioxide and 15-30% by weight of at least one damper providing opacity in the IR range, selected from a group consisting of silicon carbide, titanium dioxide, graphite, carbon black and their mixtures. Granular material is characterized by ramming density of no more than 250 g/l and compressive strength according to DIN EN 826:2013 at 50% compression ranging from 150 to 300 kPa or more than 300 kPa. Granular material is obtained by mixing hydrophilic silicon dioxide with the damper, compacting the mixture to produce granules, followed by heat treatment at a temperature of 800-1100°C and hydrophobization.
EFFECT: increase in mechanical strength and abrasion resistance.
