FIELD: chemical processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an improved reaction system and a method for conducting a reaction using an integrated means for creating interphase microsurfaces to produce purified terephthalic acid using paraxylene. The system comprises a reactor and an interphase microsurface generator located inside the reactor. The reactor comprises a casing, an inner cylinder concentrically located inside the casing, and a circulating heat exchange apparatus partially located outside of the casing, wherein the inner cylinder has a lower end connected with the inner lower surface of the casing in a closed manner, and an open upper end, the area between the casing and the inner cylinder is the first reaction area, the inner cylinder comprises a second reaction area and a third reaction area in the top-down direction, the circulating heat exchange apparatus is connected to the inner cylinder and to the means for creating interphase microsurfaces, respectively.

EFFECT: invention can solve the problems associated with large waste of the reaction solvent, i.e. acetic acid, at high temperature and high pressure and with the inability to isolate the resulting terephthalic acid in time in the previously known method for producing purified terephthalic acid using paraxylene.
