FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing an alumina system modified with oxides of zirconium and magnesium, which is a promising material for products for structural and instrumental purposes. The method includes anodic dissolution of metallic aluminum in an aqueous electrolyte solution containing 0.5 mol/L sodium chloride, 0.5 mol/L zirconium ions and 0.05-0.2 mol/L magnesium ions, in a coaxial electrolyzer at anode current density 80-160 A/m2. The resulting precipitate is then kept in solution for at least 48 hours, filtered, dried and heat treated at a temperature of 1100-1600°С.
EFFECT: invention provides the production of a modified alumina system with a given dimensional uniformity, chemical purity and phase composition, stability of the tetragonal phase of zirconium dioxide up to a temperature of 1600°С and enhanced physical and mechanical properties of a compact ceramic material.
