SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for detecting defects on sheet and long products. The substance of the invention lies in the fact that the device for non-destructive testing of rolled metal contains a mechanism for raising and lowering the sensor to the object of control, and a mechanism for positioning the sensor, while the mechanism for raising and lowering the sensor contains a frame on which at least two pneumatic cylinders are installed, two movable beams on which vertical guides are installed, which are inserted into ball carriages, protective casings designed to protect ball carriages with guides, protective upper and lower corrugations, and the sensor positioning mechanism has a suspension on which the sensor is mounted, and which has two axes that ensure the sensor swing in the planes of the transverse and longitudinal sections of the test object, and the device also contains at least two electronics units, each of which is mounted on a frame, at least two vertical tracks, grease fittings, channels and fittings for supplying compressed air for cooling the device and creating an air cushion between the sensor and the controlled object.
