FIELD: microwave technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to microwave technology. The directional coupler consists of the main 43 and the secondary - the first 44 and the second 45 of the distributed transmission lines, while the ends of the second and first lines, which are located on the sides of the input and output of the main line, are connected through ballast resistors 47 and 46 to a common bus, as a result where elements 43, 44, 46 form oppositely directed, and elements 43, 45, 47 - co-directional eight-pole. With the electrical connection length of three lines where is the geometric length of the connection, and λ is the wavelength in the dielectric, this coupler acquires inverse properties, when, with ballast resistors equal to the wave resistance R of the standard supply paths, at the free ends of the first and second lines, respectively, stand out the power of the reflected and incident waves. Opposite and co-directional eight-pole networks can be described by wave matrices containing information about the electrodynamic wave impedances of a single and coupled lines.
EFFECT: increasing directivity without complicating the design of the directional coupler.
