FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of electrical engineering, in particular to relay protection of electrical networks. The expected result is achieved by the fact that the input electrical value of each phase is converted into a controlled signal with a given characteristic and amplitude proportional to the peak value of the intermittent circuit pulse current, and a classifying signal is created on its basis. Then a preset comparison threshold is used to control the level of the largest of the classifying signals, while an additional actuation signal is introduced for intermittent arcing faults that are on the verge of transition to a stable closure.
EFFECT: increase in the reliability of detecting an intermittent arcing fault.
