SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of hair cutting devices. A cutting mechanism for a hair cutting device contains an outer cutting element with holes for hair entry and an inner cutting element with cutting elements, each of which has the first cutting edge. The inner cutting element is made with the possibility of being moved relatively to the outer cutting element to perform a cutting operation within the cutting area of the cutting mechanism. Adjacent holes for hair entry are separated from each other by a separating element. The separating element contains cutting and non-cutting sections. The cutting section lies within the cutting area. The non-cutting section is outside the cutting area. The non-cutting section contains an inner wall facing the inner cutting element and a sidewall that is perpendicular to the inner wall. A single chamfer is located between the inner wall of the non-cutting section and the sidewall of the non-cutting section. The invention also relates to a hair cutting device and a method for manufacturing an outer cutting element of a cutting mechanism.
