SUBSTANCE: claimed are a self-propelled mining machine containing an air filtration unit and a method for operation of the air filtration unit of a self-propelled mining machine. The self-propelled mining machine comprises a base containing a plate; a main body supported by the base and enclosing at least part of the plate; an air filtration unit configured to supply filtered air into the main body. The air filtration unit comprises an inlet for polluted air, an outlet for filtered air, and a filter chamber located so as to allow a fluid medium to pass between the inlet for polluted air and the outlet for filtered air. The filter chamber accommodates a filtering element. The inlet for polluted air is located vertically under the filter chamber. The air filtration unit is located on the plate. The plate comprises a hole in the fluid communication with the inlet for polluted air. Also claimed are a method for operation of the air filtration unit of a self-propelled mining machine and a method for controlling the temperature of air inside the main body of a self-propelled mining machine.
