SUBSTANCE: method for cleaning filter (22) of the vacuum cleaner is provided, through which, during operation of the vacuum cleaner, passes fan (28) flow of intake air comprising: measuring first pressure (p₁) at the entrance to filter (22); measurement of second pressure (p₂) at the output of filter (22); determination of the pressure drop across filter (22) as difference (Δp) between first pressure (p₁) and second pressure (p₂); determination of value (Q) characterizing the volume flow of intake air at filter output (22); determination of value (c_W) characterizing the resistance of filter (22) to the flow, based on said pressure difference (Δp) and the indicated value (Q), characterizing the volume flow; and initiation of filter cleaning depending on certain value (c_W), which characterizes the resistance of the filter to the flow.
