SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of ceramic articles. Disclosed is a method of making a ceramic radiotransparent housing for a lighting device, according to which Shulepovskaya clay is pre-mixed, potassium feldspar kaolin, chamotte, diopside, bentonite to obtain a mass with moisture content of 19.0–21.0 %, which is then held in tight conditions for 12 hours and subjected to a vacuumizing process on a vacuum press and moulded at pressure of 1.5–10 MPa to produce a workpiece. Obtained workpieces are dried for 40–60 minutes at temperature of 150–170 °C and glazing by applying electrotechnical glaze on the workpiece body by sputtering with a glaze layer thickness of 0.3–0.5 mm, glazed articles are fired, after firing the articles are cut to produce a ceramic body for a lighting fixture. Crude mixture contains components in the following ratio, wt. %: Shulepovskaya clay 34.0–37.0, potassium feldspar kaolin 37.0–42.2, chamotte 7.0–11.0, diopside 10.0–13.0, bentonite 1.0–2.0.
EFFECT: technical result of the invention is the manufacture of a radiotransparent ceramic housing for the lighting device, which provides effective protection of the power supply and the radio transmitting device.
