SUBSTANCE: the invention relates to the field of sorting materials on electrically conductive and non-electrically conductive. The method and device for electrodynamic separation includes supply of initial material into working zone and acts on it in process of selection by running electromagnetic fields of one or several inductors with variable number of pole pairs or pole division The inductors with different relative to each other direction of movement of electromagnetic fields are located in working zone at distance from each other in direction of conveyor belt movement by not less than value ε, where ε is value of half amplitude of external field of inductor. In the selection mode, switching of inductor windings is carried out in such a way that the pole division is changed from the maximum to minimum or vice versa, with a switching time interval t = 1-4 s with a metal sensor signal corresponding to a certain particle size stabilization, the pole division set a constant value corresponding to the most effective selection of particles of this size. The linear inductors are staggered with a shift towards each other with overlapping Δ, where Δ is the doubled size of the overhang of the front parts of the inductors.

EFFECT: technical result is higher efficiency of selection of electroconductive particles by electrodynamic separation.
